When it came time for Certus Claims Administration, LLC to relocate from Camarillo to Thousand Oaks, California, the firm was looking for a more modernized space to fit its needs. This meant cleaning house and looking for a new home for some of the office furniture that wasn’t being utilized in addition to the filing cabinets, shelving units, and other items no longer needed as a result of having gone paperless.
The solution was clear: Give back to local entities in need of these items, a hallmark tradition embedded in the culture of Distinguished and its DP Cares program. Owned by Distinguished, Certus is an independent third-party administrator delivering customized claims services—investigation, management, adjustment, and final resolution of liability, excess, and auto in all 50 states. Targeted industries include commercial and residential construction, hospitality, commercial and habitational real estate, retail and recreation.
Jennifer Jordan, Senior Program Assistant, Certus, who manages the TPA’s office administration and support needs of the staff contacted Camarillo’s City Hall to get a list of entities that would benefit from the firm’s filing cabinets, furniture, and office supplies. She also used Facebook as a platform to reach out to her friends and family, some of whom are teachers, to find out if anyone could use the items.
“We received a list of about 20-25 names of different local charities and non-profit programs from City Hall, along with having a list of churches and schools from others we reached out to and through word of mouth,” says Jennifer. Certus donated to several organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo, who thanked Jennifer and Certus, by saying, “Great supporters such as yourself help us maintain the office that supports the youth…as a result of your generous support, our members are completing their homework at the Club and able to take part in other interest-based activities afterward…”
Among the other recipients were churches and schools, who also appreciated the generous donation of office and school supplies.
“The staff at Certus was happy to be a part of a longstanding commitment at Distinguished of giving back and paying it forward,” explains Jennifer. “Through DP Cares, many staff members throughout the country participate in food banks, toy drives, and charity walks among other philanthropic work. We also wanted to help make an impact on those in need in line with the giving nature of Distinguished. It’s great to give back to our local community.”
